Itinerary description

This is a coastal hike that largely utilizes seldom used ATV trail. It extends from Route 60 (Conception Bay Highway) to the light @ Salmon Cove Point in Conception Bay.

The southern end of the path starts at about 260 meters from Route 60 at the end of a country lane (note: there is no room for parking in this area, see notes on parking below). The path parallels the coast in a wooded area for the first few kilometers and slowly descends to the shoreline. After a short walk along a rocky beach, it climbs inland to the only vehicle accessible parking area at approximately the half-way point. The path then stays to the centre of the narrow peninsula until reaching the Salmon Cove Point Light at the northern end.

Blueberries are abundant in season, particularly in the area around the half-way point and further to the north.

Parking:

South End @ Avondale: Park at Flynn's Store on Route 60. Walk 1.2km NE on Route 60 and Goat Shore Road to the trail start. See GPS track.

Middle: (enter from East side of peninsula). In the neighbouring community of Harbour Main / Chapel Cove / Lakeview, exit Route 60 on Harbour Drive. Turn left on Ballfield Road. Continue to the end of Ballfield Road where parking is available. See GPS track.

North End @ Harbour Main: Drive to the end of Harbour Drive in Harbour Main. Park in the turn-around area at the end of the road. Do not block driveways. Walk approximately 250 meters north. See GPS track.
