Itinerary description
Matreier Tauernhaus - Innergschlöss - Salzboden- Venedigerhaus- Matreier Tauernhaus.
Nice round hiking excursion up to the glacier of Innergschlöss.
It is necessary to bring enough water, because we did not find any fontaine during the excursion. Also, I would recommend to follow this direction and not the opposite one, because there is a long portion at the highest point where you will walk on big stones, which is completely safe when the rocks are dry, but it can become slippery and risky in case of rain.
The excursion starts in the parking of the Matraier Tauernhouse. The first five kilometers upto the hut Venedigerhouse can be done with the Panorama Train or by foot. We decided to walk.
The first five kilometers pass by along a steep forest path upto the hut. Afterwards, the real ascent. Before reaching the peak, you will see the small lake Salzbodensee and you will enjoy the outstanding view from the called "Auge Gottes" (God's eye).
Once in the peak, you can decide to enlarge the route upto the Alte Prager Hütte, just 30-40 minutes in a steep ascent, but we left it for another time. Now the descent is easy and fast, directly first upto the hut Venedigerhouse, and then to the Berghouse Aussergschloss, passing by a very nice Chappell built inside the rock.
From the Venedigerhouse the route goes along an easy trail path back to the parking, or you can take again the Panorama train or even a taxi in the hut.

Is it dangerous for childen? They're good walkers, but i hate overhangs...They are 8 and 10 years old.
It could be too hard for them. Maybe you could reach Auge Gottes and then return to the initial point.
