Itinerary description
The hike starts at Glendalough visitor centre. It follows part of the Wicklow way. We ascend first Brockagh East and then Brockagh (558 m) a broad hill of heather and granite boulders. From this point we can appreciate the beauty of the surrounding hills and valleys. We descend through an area of heather that leads onto the disused lead mines above Glendalough. This provides a glimpse of Ireland's mini industrial past. We take St. Kevin's Way after crossing Glendasan river over a bridge. This will bring us to the Upper Lake car park and follow the track to our start point. The hike takes approximately 5 hours to complete.
