Itinerary description
This easy hike from the Ben Nevis visitor centre gives you an impression of the area at the foot of the mighty Ben Nevis with frequent views of the highest mountain of the UK. The start is in front of the visitor centre. There is paid parking. You cross the bridge across River Nevis and walk along the river to the south. Soon, the mountain path diverts to the east, but you keep walking along the river until you get to the bridge at the Youth Hostel. You cross the river again, and then walk 280 m along the road before you turn left on a small asphalt road taking you towards the wooded west side of the valley. In the forest you get to a gravel forest road and you turn north and walk along this forest road for 1.2 km. Here, you take a small path down towards the valley. Soon you are outside the forest with good views of Ben Nevis. At the end of the path, you follow the asphalt road 120 m and then cross the road and walk back to the starting point.
You can find something to eat and drink in the visitor centre and at Glen Nevis restaurant at the turn-off for the asphalt lane to the woods (waypoint).
