Spectacular route through the Upper Rock Nature Reserve.
The difficulty is due to the great distance and the accumulated unevenness.
Despite the measurement of the unevenness in the northern area, inside the galleries are not correct, so that the accumulated is not the one that measures the application.
Otherwise the route is accessible to anyone hiking moderate.
The route starts leaving the vehicle parked at Europa Point, next to the Mosque and near the Punta Europa Lighthouse. The views from here are spectacular throughout the strait and if the day is left you can see all the north of Africa perfectly.
It is a stretch by road to the Jewish Cemetery, Jew's Gate, a place worth seeing because of the history it contains and the beauty of its simplicity.
From here, the Mediterraneam Step trail starts, a stairway between native vegetation that climbs up the face of the East of the Rock. The view of Europe and the strait with beautiful. When you gain altitude, you can see the entire profile of the east of the Rock, overlooking the coastline of La Línea de la Concepción and if the visibility is good, Manilva, Estepona, Marbella.
The climb of the stairs although it is hard is done without difficulty because of its beauty. This staircase ends in the SKY WALK, a glass platform that has hung on the face of the east of the Rock and on the central cornice of the massif. In this place, the visibility is total both on the east and west sides and the views on the north north axis are very good towards the interior.
From here we continue the routes indicated in the upper rock visiting
the Cave of San Miguel, the Tunnels of the Great Siege, the exhibition of the City Under the Siege, the Arab Castle, Ape's Den (the Lair of the Monkeys), the Tunnels of the Second World War.
It is a fairly long route but it is worth it to take a day of nature on the Rock of Gibraltar.
I hope you like it.
