Itinerary description
Got to Geghard Monastery by taxi (9000AMD from Yerevan centre). Then followed the main road back for a while to take a turn to a trial (not marked!). We followed the river/valley.
On our way we passed by a fish farming and its restaurant- “Garni Ishxananoc”. Be prepared for nobody speaking English there, but they have WiFi.
From here you can only follow the asphalt road or pay 100AMD to enter “Symphony of Stones”) (totally recommend!) and keep following the trial via Garni Canyon towards the water reservoir.
The trial from the Symphony of Stones to the water reservoir is part of the Transcaucasian Train and the reviews say trial finishes suddenly at the reservoir and you can only walk back. So we decided not to go all the way to the reservoir, but take a turn halfway there (the last turn that was on the map). We walked all the way to the main road and hitchhiked back to Yerevan.
