Itinerary description
Day 6 of our family walk from Berkåk to Nidaros (Trondheim) along the Gudbrandsdalsleden (Saint Olaf’s way) in Norway.
We took a shortcut from near the bathrooms in the campground to the old highway and followed it east towards the bridge. It was about 3km to the other side of the bridge, then another couple through fields to where we met the main path from Sundet Gård. After that there was a long uphill piece along mostly dirt roads and then finally into the woods (mostly) for a good while.
Don’t trust the signs that tell you how long is left! It’s a bit longer. Signs were hard to fin inside the city at times but we followed them until perhaps the last 100m, where you should probably just go up the steps from the riverside park.
If you show your passport you can enter the church (really impressive!) for free. The final stamps and certificate are obtained at the Pilgrim Center a bit beyond the cathedral. We weren’t able to stay there due to no availability due to a big trade fair in town, so I’d recommend booking a room well in advance. We stayed at the Trondheim Vandrerhjem, some 2km away, and it was nice.
