Itinerary description
Day 5 of our trip along the Gidbrandsdalsleden from Berkåk to Nidaros (Trondheim).
The day begins with a long (3km) climb along ever smaller roads and then a long walk through forest and rural country. It emerges near Buvika and then follows the shore before passing through a neighborhood and then forest against to arrive in town.
We went off trail for a short bit for food. There are two supermarkets, good at the gas station, and at least a couple of restaurants.
Øysand camping is low-end. We h got a pilgrim cabin for 690 nok in August 2022. It has two bunk beds (4beds) plus a couch and a small fridge. Toilets and shower are shared and we’re a 2-minute walk away, which got tiring. You had to buy a card with credit for the showers and washer or dryer. There’s a small kitchen with just a sink and oven/stove. No pots or pans or plates or anything. The man at reception kindly lent us a pot so we could prepare our supper. I was a little let down by the place but slept extremely well and it certainly was the most economical of all the places we stayed.
