Itinerary description
Gudbrandsdalsleden: Segard Hoel (Å) to Svorkmo (Gumdal Gård).
Two adults and three teens, our third day out of Berkåk towards Nidaros.
A long and difficult day. We took a slight shortcut early in the morning to try to save time since storms were forecast for the late afternoon. It paid off: there was a downpour and lightning struck just down the road 30 min after we arrived.
Unless you’re already a seasoned pilgrim, I’d suggest staying somewhere a bit closer to Gumdal, e.g. the Herberge in Meldal.
Gumdal Gård is the nicest place we stayed on our trip. Nice hot water, 3 bunk beds plus a couple cots, a well-appointed kitchen and living room. There were soft drinks and beer in the fridge for a reasonable price. The host spoke with us for a long time and was very friendly. I wish there were places like it all along the path.
We ate lunch in the Circle K in Løkken Verk since it was Sunday and the supermarkets were closed, but there was a sizable one in town, as well as one in Meldal. The Joker in Svorkmo is at least 2km off the path; doubt we’d have gone there after so many km but it’s there if you’re desperate. There were also a couple of restaurants in Løkken, one of which looked cheap and the other expensive, but we didn’t stop to look.

We followed road (off path)
Given a long day ahead and forecast for heavy rain, we decided to follow the road instead of the path for this bit.
