Itinerary description
Gaucín Town Hall Route VII - Walk No.7 from Patrick Elvin's excellent book "Walks around Gaucín" where it is called " Around the village below the castle". A good walk to introduce you to the delights of walking around Gaucin, as the walk enjoys views in all directions and does not stray far from the village. There is a long climb back up to the village towards the end of the walk.
The route passes the battle site where Pérez de Guzmán, better known as Guzmán el Bueno, died on September 17, 1309 during the siege of the Castillo del Águila, which was held by the Muslims. Gaucín was finally conquered in 1457.

We walked this trail in late April when there were a lot of wild flowers. Beautiful scenery and clear and easy directions.
