Itinerary description
Short and very nice trail near Polystypou village full of various flora species as well as fauna. Walk among hazelnut trees. There is a river in the right season. As well it is possible to taste various fruits in their ripening season - apart from nuts, there are spiny plum trees, ordinary plums, walnuts, pomegranates, fig trees, blackberries, apples and grapes.
There is another hazelnut trail ( https://www.wikiloc.com/hiking-trails/alonas-hazelnut-forest-petros-vanezis-nature-trail-alona-115381645 ) and there is a possibility to combine the two as they are not too far apart. Between the two trails there is Pantheon restaurant - very pleasant place to have a pit stop and a bite.
Parking is possible along the road near the church and then you need to walk a bit further along asphalt road and then follow the concrete one or you can drive up to the start, it is possible to park up to 4 cars there.
TERRAIN: narrow forest trail most of the time, some ups and downs, but easy overall
SIGNS: directions to the starting point and some plant plates, a few resting points
SEASON: pretty shady trail but tasty only in late summer- beginning of autumn
KIDS: definite fun for kids of all ages
