Nous avons essayé de le faire à la descente, il y a un chemin privé! Impossible de passer (acesso proibido) dommage Nous avons du remonter jusqu'au couvent puis prendre la route
    Dommage la forêt est belle

If you follow the trail out of Colares you pass an abandonaned villa on your left with its wall directly at the path and an old, broken car down in the garden. The villa had a balcony resting on columns on the other side, and is in a pretty bad state, leaving you wondering who left it and why. Just after that you come at a crossing where you should not go down and left, but straight. This path (that goes straight ahead) takes you to a higher small road that you can follow all the way up to the convent. If you do take a left, you encounter a beautiful small, old chapel at the little stream but then you know that you’re on the wrong way. If you continue there you will see a renovated house with a cross and an old relic (‘relíquia) masoned into the wall. If you go up and around the church and gardens you get stuck at a closed off road that you were supposed to follow saying propriedade privado. So definitely a walk that is worth while but from the abandoned villa you should (and can) find your own way using the map. It worked pretty good for us.

Do not take this route. Follow the steps described on the comment above: at the crossing before the little chapel, do not take a left, follow straigh ahead. Once you find a bigger road after 15 minutes following this path, take a left.
