Itinerary description
This is a very pleasant walk without any difficulties, with lots of views and it will give a good impression of the whole valley in which Friedrichroda is situated.
The walk starts near the huge parking place of the Berghotel adjacent to the Friedenspark of Friedrichroda.
The first part leads you through this spa city and some of its beautifully situated park grounds with nice views and then goes up to the first hill top of this walk, the Gottlob (571m.), passing a wonderful viewpoint, the Gottlob Temple.
After descending this first hill top a wooded track goes up to the Körnberg (633m.).
From there you will leave the broad track and follow a narrow track to another beautiful viewpoint, Die Weisse Bank, from which place you have a nice view of Finsterbergen.
From here, you follow the narrow track until you get on the broad track again which from this point gradually descends to the B88, the Engelbergerstrasse, which you cross to continue a track leading you around the edges of the wooded hills, giving you very nice views of Friedrichroda.
Reaching the K14 we followed this road to the first bridge across the stream, the Schiffwasser, in Ernstroda.
From here a broad track will lead you to the first houses of the outskirts of Friedrichroda and then we followed a narrow track going up again following the edge of the woods to a viewpoint called "Die Lange Bank".
From this point we followed a narrow track along the edge of the woods towards the Ahorn Berghotel.
