Freel Peak
Freel Peak from Horse Meadows Trailhead (on NFS Rd 51) via Armstrong Pass and Tahoe Rim Trail. From CA Hwy 89, 0.8 miles south/east of Luther Pass or 1.8 miles north/west of jct with Hwy 88. High clearance 4WD required on dirt forest road to trailhead, especially deep ruts 0.1 mile from highway requiring 4wd and reconnaissance (if your vehicle can pass that section, it can easily handle the following 3.4 miles to the trailhead). Toiyabe and El Dorado National Forests, Alpine and El Dorado Counties, California, USA

Great views, going in early am low temperature. but do this trail when day time temperature is below 70. Coming out you are in sun most of the way
