Itinerary description

One of 20+ interconnected walks forming ‘Footsteps in the Forest’ see Lysos Trekkers Group. Please note while these routes are beautiful, these are not casual strolls and are in a wild forest area. There is strict NO SMOKING rule in the forest as a fire risk there is a NO DOGWALKING in forest area law. There are no barriers and steep drops plus some loose surfaces. Snakes can be encountered as well as other flora and fauna. Take good boots, a sunhat and plenty of water hiking poles recommended. This can form a figure of 8 walk of 18.5Km with forest crossroads with access from tarmac road. This Walk is given from the St Merkourious Picnic area follow the Paradisos Hills Hotel sign through Lysos onto the Stavros road into the forest until the sign to the picnic area in a deep valley Note: From this point the 6Km road to the picnic area has no surface is single track loose rocks and big drops with no barrier is usually passable with care. Locals use the route as it gives access to the chapel but to be fair best suits small 4x4 or other high wheelbase vehicles as small..
