Itinerary description
This hike leads us from Llogara hotel resort down to Palasa beach via Qafa e Thellë. It had been planned using the old topographic maps from Enver Hoxha times and we learned the hard way that these maps are not reliable any more. The trail up to Qafa e Thellë is nice and easy, once you have found the trailhead. From there, another trail is supposed to go down to Grames bay. Since we had no equipment for overnight stay, we didn't follow it, but headed towards Palasa beach. Hiking was still easy from Qafa e Thellë down to the pasture settlement Fusha e Rushnjës.
Down from there, the going got tough. Trails have vanished and only some temporary sheep paths are remaining, that get lost one after another. At some point, the unaware hiker finds himself deeply lost in thick Macchia. Turning back is no option and the only possibility is to fight the Macchia step by step. Occasional sheep paths help, some deep ravines cause delay. The beautiful coast is alredy in view, but still some hours to go.
I cannot reccomend this part of the trail. If you nevertheless want to venture, bring plenty of time, a GPS, and some rugged clothes.

Terrible descent, I tried to find a route several years ago and it was already horrific experience. The circular route via antenna or along the shepherd huts (lower but more difficult) are the recommend options.
