Itinerary description
This is a great walk with superb views all around!
For this walk take the D421 from Foix to Prat d'Albis. This is a narrow but very good road which will take you from 400 to 1400 meters in 16 kilometres.
From Prat d'Albis the road continues for two more kilometres after which there is enough space to park your car.
From there a track marked yellow/ red (but very infrequently marked) leads you south-west and later west along the crest of the mountain ridge.
The track is clearly visible all the time and you will pass two small tops (Les Loubatieres , 1460m.and Sommet de Bazilac, 1490m.to the right after which the track gets a little steeper. When you get close to 1700 metres you are at the top of Roc Mouché (1695m.) From here it is a little further down and then up to Rocher de Batail (1715m.)
The views are really magnificent, especially on a clear day. You will see deep into the plains, into the valleys to the east,, the south and the west. To name a few: Roquefixade, Mont Segur, Mont Fourcat, plateau de Beille, Pic les Trois Monseigneurs, Pic d'Estibat etc.
The return along the same track is rewarding because of the views you have now that you missed on your way up.
