Itinerary description

This hike will take you along the section of the orange blazed Florida Trail which runs through the Seminole Ranch WMA. This part of the Florida Trail runs from St Nicholas Road off RT50 up to the Charles Bronson State Forest, where the Florida Trail continues. Once upon a time the trail use to be partially made up of a dirt road. That part was replaced in 2012 with a truly pretty “walk in the woods” trail. In making these tracks I hiked up to where you will find the trail leading into the Charles Bronson State Forest. I looped back, using the old Florida Trail (the road), back to the hunters checkin station and then down the blue blazed trail to meet the Florida Trail again. The Florida Trail is blazed in orange, so look for that. It was a pretty easy hike, just a little lengthy! There are a couple of places where picnic tables are provided - one near the start of the hike and another up near the end of the hike. This area is a WMA, so hunting is allowed. Check the schedule to avoid hunting - either from the FWC brochure or from my website - www.tomchoma.com. You can also read more about the Seminole Ranch WMA at my website. I suggest you always wear bright colors when in any wooded area, just to be safe. I saw signs of wildlife, but didn't actually see any. There are a few GEOCaches in the area, so you might want to try that. Happy trails to all!
