Itinerary description
On9/13/10 we hiked the Flat Top Tower trail at the Moses Cone ParK (mm 294). This was an interesting hike at the location of the Moses homestead. The trails were the old carriage paths and wound around the vast property holdings of the Moses family. The Flat Top trail was a gradual climb up to the top of Flat Top Mountain. About 1 mile into the hike was the family cemetery located in a very nice highland meadow. The hike continues on until it reached the Peak of Flat Top Mountain. There we found a 30 – 40 foot observation tower. From the top of the tower you could have amazing 360 degree views of the surrounding mountain ranges. This was a very nice hike. The only downside was the trails doubled as horseback riding trails and you had to watch your step!!
