Itinerary description
A short way down Fingal track, it will split off to the the left toward Cape Schanck. Head right for Fingal beach and Gunamatta. Two lookout points with wooden platforms along the way, are just to the left off the track and worth a look. Continue to follow the track around to the right until a signpost to the left indicates the track down to Fingal beach. There is a timber seat with a lovely view just at the last stretch before the beach. Great to have a look around at low tide, but swimmers beware of very dangerous rips and rocks. Return the same way and then head right toward Cape Schanck if desired or stay left to return to the parking area. If you continue toward Cape Schanck, there are a couple of side tracks to the right off the main track, but both head out to the cliff face which can be very unstable, so beyond having a look at the views, I would not suggest following them. The main track comes out via a dirt parking area onto Cape Schanck Road. From here it is an easy, short walk along the main road to have a look at the light house or walk down to Cape Schanck. There are toilets in the parking lot and untreated bore water in the bathroom. Return via the same track. All of the walk except down to Fingal beach (moderate due to lots of stairs) is easy and the track is well marked.
