Itinerary description
70km west of Mackay is a stunning little hike through Finch Hatton Gorge. Its only a 5km return walk, but the 160m ascent is great exercise and there's plenty to see along the way. The first 1.4km section of the walk is fairly easy and not very steep. It takes you to Araluen Cascades which has a beautiful deep swimming hole and a waterfall. The next section is a little steeper but definitely worth the effort as it follows Finch Hatton Creek further up to another beautiful waterfall and swim hole called "The Wheel of Fire". Its an amazing spot to cool off and send a few hours relaxing. Check out our Facebook Hiking Site for further information "Take A Hike- Qld".
