Itinerary description
This NOT a complete track across Fimmvörðuháls, there are plenty of those here (including one of mine). This track covers only that part of the route that CHANGED with the eruption. Its usefulness has become limited - I believe stakes have now been planted to mark a new trail to/from the hut at the top. I'll probably soon remove this.
If you are approaching from the south (as most Icelanders do) then you turn left at the waypoint named "Suður", then trace the route to "Norður". Reverse if going in the other direction! Please try not to stray too far off this trail, we don't want the lava (or your boots) to be destroyed.
