Itinerary description
This trail is not a loop. It starts at Ordre de Malte (near Chabrouh Dam) and end in Mar Ephrem church in Kfardebian. We therefore parked one car near the church (to get back to the starting point at the end of the hike) and carpooled to Ordre de Malte where we started our hike.
We followed the LMT signs (section 13) all along the way, with little modifications especially at the end, where we took the asphalt road to discover the little passages of the village.
This trail goes by the Nabaa el Aasal spring and the water pipe which crosses over the stream from the Nabaa el Laban spring. When you arrive at the top of the “Jisr el Hajar” of Kfardebian (natural bridge), the trail continues towards a hill lake and joins a concrete water canal to reach the Faqra ruins and temple. The water canal can be slippery, be careful when walking on its borders.
From there, a footpath runs towards a dirt road which passes by a quarry before reaching an umbrella pine forest.
Follow a the path downhill towards the orchards by the stream, passing a concrete bridge. Continue over another bridge onto the main paved road which leads you to some orchards beside the stream. Cross it by a ruined watermill and start climbing towards Kfardebian village.
You can either continue towards section 14 or finish next to the Mar Ephrem church in the village by using the connecting trail.
Remember not to follow blindly the signs and the map. Use your common sense and find your safest path!
Beautiful trail with varied landscapes and sceneries. Always keep our Lebanon clean! Enjoy hikers!
