Itinerary description
We launched from the roadside just a couple hundred feet east of the old launch point that has been closed for months. (We checked on the way home, and all the "closed" signs have been removed, so we'll use that area next time). We just paddled south cross country through the Eleocharis and mangrove thickets until we couldn't go any farther, and then we turned east and north to find our way back.
The water is high, and the paddling is easy (most of the time). Navigation was a little challenging - some cuts have closed up, and we had to make a few minor detours, but with the sun still low in the sky at the hours we paddle, it's easy to maintain direction. We rated the trail moderate for navigation.
