Itinerary description

YouTube video of this special exploratory hike: https://youtu.be/a7tVHV6Qv4U

This is simply a trail run - nothing fancy - but explores something amazing.

Mt Stapylton is Logan City's most important mountain because on the 160m high summit sits the Bureau of Meteorology Weather Radar..... and everybody relies on that thing to show what's happening with the weather.

Without it, people would not know how to live their lives, how to plan their weekends.... it seems everybody has forgotten how to read atmospheric pressure, let alone even to simply look outside their windows.... instead everybody looks at their phone screens!

In any instance, it's one of those mountains in Logan City that everybody sees, everybody knows, but nobody knows much about visually! Both beautiful and overgrown at the same time. The Fulton Hogan quarry lays at the base of this mountain.

A large powerline easement lies across the north face of the mountain. There is a dirt road that leads up from the eastern face, and you can follow this either up to the Weather Radar, or onwards to the lower western face. Loads of kangaroos up on the western side which actually was very scenic, and evidence that cows graze here.

Was quite surreal to be able to finally view the BOM Radar up close. A bitumen road leads up to there. Next to it a little lower also lies a large transmitter tower, and then further west lies the Quarry which you can see fully from a cliff-face. Everywhere quite overgrown with many weeds and long grass.... loads of spiders everywhere if you're into that kind of thing.

Was great to explore this mountain finally up close!
