DAY 8: CHUKKUNG - LOBUCHE VIA KONGMA LA PASS (5535 METERS)
The day of the first step. From Chukkung there are basically three big steps to get to the 5535 meters of Kongma La Pass. At a certain point, when your breath is already reduced to a minimum, you pass by some spectacular lakes: but it is the view from the pass that really takes your breath away, in every sense! The descent to Lobuche is long and the part of Everest Glacier (which is not a glacier, but a rock) is truly infinite. I arrived in Lobuche very tired, while Gaddo was definitely cooler than me: happiness was a lot, and reading in the guesthouse that lung capacity at those altitudes is halved made us very proud.
