Itinerary description
This trail has been described before. A second report may still be useful. Moreover, this one was done in bad weather.
I did this trail as part of a 6-days hike through Svanetia. The idea of this hike was inspired from the Transcaucasian Trail Project. Much practical information I found on the Caucasus Trekking website by Jozef Antala.
Starting such a trail in Etseri (Iskari) is convenient, since Etseri is situated near the main road to Mestia and can be reached by usual transport. Just ask the driver to drop you off. I stayed the night at Hanmer Guest House in Etseri. It can be recommended.
The trail itself is well signposted and has no particular difficulties. Luckily, the rain stopped at noon and revealed at least some views. Mount Ushba didn't show this day, though.
