Itinerary description
You will need a guide to do this hike. The Etna is an active volcano so track can be altered based on the conditions.
This track begins at 2900. You will have taken the cable car and jeep to this height.
The summit to the main crater is at 3300 and there is plenty to see along the way.
The terrain isn’t technical but is often sandy.
To hike up I would recommend some hiking or trail shoes, a small backpack, a light rain jacket to block the wind, trousers (preferably wind proof), a down jacket. It maybe sunny but it is deceptively cold at 3300m, especially when you stop to admire the crater. Take water and a snack, possibly lunch.
Hiking poles aren’t strictly needed.
