Itinerary description
Nice long but easy walk around Mount Etna's northern flank.
Starting in the area devastated in 2002 by a two-month-long eruption, you'll first walk along rivers of lava before leaving them behind you to go toward older craters and lava flows.
The path follows gently toward a forest of birches where a nice hut is a perfect spot for a picnic.
Afterwards, you'll start the long descent. The next stage will take you to a large lava tube, the Grotta dei Lamponi, and eventually, you'll walk on the Pista Altomontana, a dirt track that almost circle Mount Etna to go to the Pineta Ragabo.
