Stage 16 - Phakding - Chhuthawa - Nurning - Cheplung - Lukla.
December 2, 2019.
Last Stage back to Lukla.
The route is the same way as the first day of the Trekking.
Like the day before, we take it very calmly.
We arrived at Lukla mid-morning and stopped at the Khumbu Lodge where the first day we were introduced to our fellow Sherpas.
The next day we would catch the flight that would take us back to Kathmandu .

Description of the route:
I have little to say about the last stage of the Trekking.
We did these almost 8 km of travel with great tranquility.
The idea was to get to Lukla at lunchtime, so we were in no rush.
Except for the group from Singapore who stayed at our Lodge and who started the direct route to the EBC , we did not meet almost anyone on the way. As if the whole world had disappeared. The truth is that it is a somewhat strange feeling.
We leave the pretty village of Phakding.
We again passed the villages of Chhuthawa with its pretty Stupa, the prayer wheels and the Chortens,
Nurning with its particular iron bridge different from all those found in this area.
The suspension bridge that crosses the Thadokosi river , the first one that impressed us so much on the first day of the Trekking.
Cheplung , with its two monasteries, the oldest attached to the mountain, and the new one on the same road.
And Lukla , a village with a lot of commerce and movement of people. End of the Trekking.
The last 3 km we had to save a difference of about 300 m, which with stops is done without problems.
When we got to the Lodge, we left our backpacks in the rooms that we had been assigned, and a hot shower that we really wanted, before going down to eat.
Everest beers and a photo of the whole family at the entrance of the Lodge
We took advantage of the afternoon to pack our travel bags back to Kathmandu and take a walk through Lukla.
In front of our Lodge, we went into a Bakery and had a coffee with some delicious cakes. I was craving something sweet.
Then we approached the airport to see how the planes were landing and taking off, on a sloping runway of just 517 meters.
The truth that is impressive to see them from the same wall at the end of the track.
The next day it would be our turn to get on one of them.
Cross our fingers.
We returned to the lodge where we had met for a farewell dinner with the whole group.
In order not to lose the habit of every day, I put down what I had left of the Iberian for an aperitif, we ordered a bottle of Spanish wine and a spectacular dinner.
The parting was a bit sad. They have been living with them for 17 days, and they become very fond of them.
Sherpa life is very hard. It's only 5-6 months of work as a porter or guide, and they make the most of it. They hardly see the family in that time.
Very good people and they need us to get ahead.
We went to sleep a little later than on other occasions because the next day we don't need to get up so early.
This time it took us a bit to get to sleep. It was the last day we spent in the Himalayas and the truth is that it is hard to think that we were saying goodbye to all this.
Tomorrow we will travel back by plane to Kathmandu where we will spend 4 days getting to know that beautiful city.
