Itinerary description
This is a trail of moderate difficulty, a few areas are steep and the trail narrows significantly. There are also some significant drops. People with pets or, worse still, young children, may wish to keep them on a leash!
There are two points where it is diffcult to establish the correct route. The first is on the ascent, where the track doubles back on itself in a hairpin; we scrambled up a short dirt bank to cross to the "return" track. The second on the descent, when you arrive at a large cross. There are two routes down from here; one being a set of steps and the other (not included here) is a more gentle descent which takes you further around in a clockwise direction, almost back to the "hairpin" but you then turn back counterclockwsie on a clear track. If you do the steps, be careful, the last "step" is over one-metre in height!
As this route was originally put together to avoid steps (bad knees) the second choice might be an improvement. It would be hard to get lost!
