NEW YORK - Cuarta etapa del sendero Long Path, desde el paraje de Long Clove, situado junto a la ruta 9W hasta el pueblo de Mount Ivy, recorriendo el High Tor State Park y el South Mountain County Park. Todo el recorrido lo hicimos con una gran nevada caída la noche anterior, entre 20 y 40 cm. de nieve en todo el recorrido, con grandes dificultades para avanzar, ya que el sendero estaba cubierto por la nieve, lo que añadió mucha dificultad a un trayecto que no debería de tenerla. La etapa convencional comienza un poco antes, pero en la etapa anterior habíamos avanzado un poco para terminarla junto a una parada de autobús, recorriendo así una parte de la ruta que hubiera correspondido a esta etapa.

Extending 356 miles from Fort Lee Historical Park in New Jersey to John Boyd Thacher State Park near Albany in New York, the Long Path is a thread connecting many of New York's parks, preserves, and state forest lands. After crossing into Rockland County, New York, the LP turns away from the Hudson River between Piermont and Upper Nyack, but then continues to follow the Palisades Escarpment to its end in Mt. Ivy. Much of the route is through State Parks but the trail also serves as a link to smaller county and town parks. There is some road walking through the towns of Piermont and Upper Nyack. There are extensive views of the lower Hudson River valley along the way, with the most dramatic views on Hook Mountain and High Tor. TIPO: Hike / Rock Climb
