Recorrido a través de la sección 24 del Long Path, sendero de larga distancia que va desde la ciudad de Nueva York (George Washington Bridge) hasta el extremo norte del John Boyd Thacher State Park, en Altamont, próximo a Albany, capital del estado de Nueva York. El sendero completo tiene una longitud de 357 millas (575 kilómetros), repartidas aproximadamente en 35 etapas, con una extensión hacia el norte, hasta el interior del Adirondack Park.

Esta sección 24 discurre desde el North/South State Campground Lake, hasta el Batavia Kill, y en ella el sendero asciende varias cimas importantes: Stoppel Point (3.420 piés), Arizona (3.400 piés) y Blackhead Mountain (3.940 piés).

Este último, el Blackhead Mountain, es la segunda cima mas alta del Long Path, y la cuarta de los Catskills.

Particularmente difícil es el descenso por la cara norte del Blackhead Mountain, con una caída muy pronunciada.

General Description
This section of the Long Path offers dramatic scenery. From North Lake, the trail proceeds north along the Catskill Escarpment (also known as the "Great Wall of Manitou"), with many spectacular views of the Hudson River valley over 2,000 feet below. Thomas Cole of the Hudson River school of painting made this area famous. After a steep climb to North Point, the trail becomes more rugged, descending from Stoppel Point to Dutcher Notch and then climbing Blackhead Mountain. The summit of Blackhead is the second highest point on the Long Path. North of Blackhead, the trail descends to the Batavia Kill Trail along one of the steepest trail sections in the Catskills. For the entire length of this section, the Long Path follows the Escarpment Trail, blazed with blue DEC trail markers.
