Recorrido a través de la sección o etapa 20 del Long Path, sendero de larga distancia que va desde la ciudad de Nueva York (George Washington Bridge) hasta el extremo norte del John Boyd Thacher State Park, en Altamont, próximo a Albany, capital del estado de Nueva York. El sendero completo tiene una longitud de 357 millas (575 kilómetros), repartidas aproximadamente en 35 etapas, con una extensión hacia el norte, hasta el interior del Adirondack Park.

Esta primera parte de la sección 20 discurre, entre Phoencia, NY y la cima del Engewood Mountain. En realidad, las dos partes de esta etapa las hicimos el mismo día, pero por un error en el uso del GPS, aparecen separadas.

La etapa atraviesa la cumbre del Tremper Mountain (2.720 pies) y del Engewood Mountain (3.000 pies), siguiendo el rastro del sendero Warner Creek.

General Description

The Long Path leaves Phoenicia on public roads, paralleling the Esopus Creek. The trail then climbs up the south side of Tremper Mountain, following an old tote road to the former state fire tower. From there, it heads toward Carl Mountain and circles it to descend to Warner Creek before going over Edgewood Mountain to Silver Hollow Notch. This section begins a long stretch between supply points. From Phoenicia to Palenville is over 40 miles. In this distance, only two roads are crossed. Neither has stores within 4 miles of the crossings. There is an unbridged stream crossing at the 6.95 mile mark (Warner Creek) that is dangerous to impassible at high water.
