NEW YORK

The city of New York (New York City - NYC), with its almost 9 million inhabitants, is located in the south of the state of New York, and is divided into five counties or boroughs: Bronx (The Bronx), New York (Manhattan), Queens (Queens), Kings (Brooklyn) and Richmond (Staten Island).

With an intense cultural, economic, commercial and tourist activity, and a great racial diversity (it is estimated that 800 different languages are spoken in New York, although English and Spanish, with more than 2 million Spanish speakers are majority), the The city also offers great possibilities for hiking, both on urban routes, and taking advantage of its huge green spaces and natural parks.

On this occasion, we made a circular tour starting from Long Island City (Queens), walking south and traveling through the neighborhoods of Greenpoint and Williamsburg (Brooklyn), until we reached the Williamsburg Bridge.

Of all the bridges that link Manhattan with Brooklyn and Queens, this Williamsburg bridge stands out for its long pedestrian walkway, almost always very busy by walkers and runners, and is more "passable" than the others (the Brooklyn is always full of tourists ; the one in Manhattan has a narrow pedestrian walkway; the Queensboro is very loud; and finally the Robert F. Kennedy (Triborough Bridge) is a bit inhospitable and cold).

After crossing this Williamsburg bridge, we enter Manhattan and turn south to take the pedestrian route that borders the island along the banks of the East River and the Hudson.

When we reach this path along the East River, we continue west, and head towards Battery Park, at the southern tip of the island, to continue northwards along the Hudson shore, always very lively.

At the height of 59th Street, we turn east to pass in front of Central and Park, and then the same 59th Street leads us to the Queensboro Bridge, and back to Long Island City
