Itinerary description
This is a fabulous route which has varied - and beautiful - scenery, and is a mix of the PR-A-438 "Sendero Circular de la Frontera Nazari" and the GR249.6.
We start by the railway station in Estación Cortes (Cañada de Real Tesoro) and start with a gentle climb up to the Torre del Paso. From there we follow the most beautiful old cattle-droving route (Cañada Real del Llana de las Cruces) which climbs up to the main road on a grassy path inbetween two stone walls. We have literally 2 minutes alongside the road and then leave the road at the Mirador del Corcho, from where we follow a little path just below the main road. Then we follow a lovely track (the PR-A-438) into Cortes de la Frontera. Refreshments are available in the town. From the bullring we take Avenida Acacias and then turn right onto Calle Prados for a short way. Then we fork left down a beautiful track which takes us all the way downhill back to the railway station, via an ancient cave house called "La Casa de Piedra".
