Itinerary description

A long walk that starts from Los Mortinos and passes through the edge of Cotapaxi National Park and descends down the Rio Pita to the Cascades. Return by the dirt track. Large sections of the outward leg are not well defined and a lot of track finding is required, including crossing of a 6ft ditch. The overall length could be shortened by avoiding the false trails we took. We hitched a lift for 4.5km (the straight bit on the map) to make the length fit our energy. The shortcut back to Los Mortinos from the dirt track required crossing a deep ditch. Not technically difficult but not to be attempted lightly and not the best walk we have done in the area.
