We climb Kilimanjaro 5896mt, along the Rongai route, it is the only one currently used that ascends Kilimanjaro on its North face. Starting very close to the border of Tanzania and Kenya, it is a rarely traveled route and another distinct characteristic of this route is traveling through a drier area of the massif. We decided to do the route in 6 stages and we did the descent along the Marangu route.
We leave the Springland Hotel (Mushi) by bus to the entrance of the Rongai Une Camp Park 1900mt, here we carry out the entry procedures to the park and the presentation of the porters, cooks, guides and the 13 members of the León Group. The porters took off with all the necessary material to Camp1 Sekimba Camp 2622mt, followed by the group with our backpack (pole-pole). The route runs through the tropical forest, after about 5 hours we arrive at Camp 1 where we have the entire camp set up 2622mt, we have dinner in good harmony and go to sleep.
The next day we got up at 7 in the morning, we prepared our backpack and had breakfast, the porters already began to dismantle the camp and set out on the route to Camp 2 Second Cave 3450mt, the group took 5 or 6 hours, they already had everything ready for us .
The next day the same, the porters collected the entire camp and set off to Camp3 Thino Cave 3800mt, this route is the shortest about 3 hours.
The next day at Camp 4 Kibo Hut 4720mt, the route became serious, very steep, little by little we arrived at Camp4, where we could feel the fatigue and the altitude, we ate and went into the bag to sleep.
At 12 in the morning we set out to reach the summit with the frontals on our heads, a very hard day awaits us, we advance in zic zac (pole-pole) the slope is very hard, we drank water often, at 5200mt we stopped to put on the granpons, There was a lot of snow and ice, very cold, we continued advancing little by little with great caution until we reached the summit of UHURU 5895mt. (Kilimanjaro) the emotion was so great that many of us had tears, many hugs and photos, some of the group began to notice altitude sickness.
We descended pole-pole. Once we had passed the snow area, we took off our backpacks and continued descending to Camp 4 Kibo Hut. They had tea and hot food prepared for us. We continued the descent to Camp5 Horombe Huts 3616mt, where we had dinner and spent the night.
The whole group was super happy to have achieved the Roof of Africa (Kilimanjaro), the next day we had an all-terrain vehicle at the camp that took us to the entrance of the Kilimanjaro Marangu Gate Natural Park, where our expedition ends.
