Itinerary description
An interesting gorge hike along both sides of the Grand River. The entrance is off county rd 21 just south of the town of Elora and a day pass was $6. See also the Wikiloc entry for "Elora town +" which includes a walk through the town and another portion of the gorge. There are lots of old cedars, some over 500 years old, pretty views of the gorge/river and a great habitat for birds. Some interesting rock formations, the limestone being eroded by the river over the centuries. Lots of picnic tables and several washrooms were spotted.
The trail for the most part had good footing but there were spots where you want to keep kids very close. Recently a few adults have slipped over the edge and you don't want to do that! The Conservation Authority has taken numerous steps to prevent injury (lots of fences) but on this trail you are responsible for your safety.
