Itinerary description
|
We continue flattening along the mountain range until we reach the small Rawana sanctuary (just a cave with an image of Buddha) with equally interesting views.
The path that follows ends up becoming a track along which we comfortably descend to the Heeloya train station, where we finish the excursion. Here you can return along the track or take the train back to Ella. What we did was take the train in the opposite direction to Haputale to enjoy the landscape of rolling tea plantations.
IMPORTANT NOTE: THE DIFFICULTY WITH WHICH I CATALOG MY ROUTES IS REFERRED TO MOUNTAINEERS USUAL TO WALKING, WHO CARRY WITH PROFICIENCY ON ALL TERRAINS, NOT FOR OCCASIONAL HIkers. IF YOU HAVE LITTLE EXPERIENCE, ADD ONE MORE DEGREE TO THE DIFFICULTY OF MY ROUTES SO THAT YOU DO NOT GET ANY SURPRISES.

Heeloya railway station. Here you can continue and return via the train tracks or taking the train back to Ella. We bought a ticket in 3rd class at a ridiculous price to go to Haputale enjoying beautiful views of the tea fields. We were almost alone, but the return by train to Ella was a hell of what was crowded by the train (it is a very popular tourist-scenic route), we barely fit in the compartment. So I recommend making the trip only in the W direction, not in the E.

Interesante ruta cerca de Ella
Esta ruta no es correcta. El GPS no va muy bien en esta zona. Igualmente, lo suyo es pasar la parada de kitaela y seguir un poco más, pasas un chiringuito y unos metros más (100-200) hay un camino a la izquierda, entre huertas. Y tiras todo por ahí y llegas al inicio de la ascension. Cuidado con los locales que te intentan engañar y perderte para luego aparecer y que los contrates de guías
