Itinerary description
We hiked a loop starting at Eldgjá car park, continuing to Ofaerufoss and then into the canyon ahead (western bank of the canyon). We wrongly chose the path straight ahead, instead we then turned right to a steep climb over the Eldgjá canyon and then continued up to peak of Gjátindur. We took back the trail up on the eastern edge of the canyon.
