Itinerary description
A hike through the center of Cuenca de Esperanza (Basin of Hope). While this can be done as a loop, we started at the top and worked our way around and through the basin and along creek beds. As I forgot to Resume the clock a few times, the actual hiking time is closer to 4-5 hours depending on breaks. This trail is usually approached from the Presa de la Esperanza. At the dam, it is necessary to walk up the road a couple of hundred metres and look for a trail on the right which takes you towards the end of the Presa. Although there are three valleys to explore, the principal route is up the large and central valley. To access it from the end of the lake, swing back around at the end of the lake for a little less than a hundred metres, then up the main valley.
