An easy 3 hour hike up in the hills around Guatape. You can take a short detour to the monastery. The trail is mainly on tarmac with a few muddy sections. There are very few car or people on the trail. You will have views of parts of the lake, farms and small villages. Take lots of water and good as no shops en route. The trail takes you to the entrance of El Penol. It’s worth hiking up for the views of the lake but be prepared for lots of people.

This was a great way to see the area surrounding Guatapé. Follows the road the entire time, very little traffic. I would rate this toward the difficult side of easy just for the continual walking up and down hills, combined with the distance. Beautiful, scenic walk.
