The lake of the Island or Loch an Eilein
Short walking tour around the perimeter of Loch an Eilein or Lago de la Isla, in the vicinity of the town of Avimore. In the environment of the lake is the Rothiemurchus forest, with millenary trees, and it is a protected area.
The activity starts in the parking lot of the lake, where they charge a small fee to leave the car. After visiting a souvenir shop, we begin our journey according to the clockwise direction, leaving to the right, very close, the famous island with its ruins. We are struck by the fact that from time to time, there are beaters to fight fires. The road is very compacted at the beginning, from the middle of the route there is a bit of mud. The forest is impressive, with the presence of numerous centenary pine trees, with very complex and atypical ramifications. The road has no loss, we crossed a stream that comes down from a small lake superior, the Bamhna loch. We stop in front of the island and regain strength, and with a little more we finish the route, which is a little short, but we have to go back.
