Itinerary description
This section passes closest to Cartago and San José, but begins near a national park, and ends at a tiny community tucked in a narrow valley. Beyond the city of Orosi and its surrounding towns, which stray a few kilometers from the trail, opportunities to purchase supplies and address other needs grow limited. There are also long stretches that follow major roads without substantial overhead protection. And with so much to see and do here, it is easy to justify lingering for an extra day.
