Itinerary description
Trail begins at the little mountain village of El Acebuchal, in the Sierra Almijara mountains, north of the town of Nerja in southern Spain. It is mainly on rough paths, with superb views of surrounding mountains. Not far outside El Acebuchal, you will pass, on your right hand side, Venta del Tio Pepe, a long abandoned lime kiln and shop and later Venta Cebollora, another abandoned bar and stopping point on the old mule trail between Granada and the coast. These ventas were used by both sides during the Spanish Civil War (1936 - 1939). There is a nice bar/restaurant in El Acebuchal to begin or end your journey.
