Itinerary description
Very nice walk but very sloped from the very beginning. I would recommend a good physical condition and walking sticks might be helpful.
It is possible to start from Obermoos after taking the bus from Ehrwald. After the Wiener Neustadter Hütte, the only way to access the Zugspitze is through a via ferrata of difficulty A/B (no technical difficulties).
It is possible to go down by the same road or to take the machine cabin.

This summer I would like to reach the top of Zugspitze, and I was wondering if it is absolutly necessary to carry harness and helmet, because as I can seen on the pictures, there ir people wearing normal hiking clothes...
