Itinerary description
We started our hike at Arez Ehmej camping site. You can park your car there. We discovered the amazing forest with botanical signs and species info down the trees.
After this, we started following the Ehmej to Baatara LMT Side trail signs (purple and yellow signs; check waypoint for more info). It’s a difficult trail with a very steep ascent. After arriving to Saydet el Ramliye church, we continued walking on the sand road up to Baatara.
We then left the LMT side trail to join the main Kartaba Laqlouq road. This part of the trail is asphalt to go back to the cars; mainly descent. There is a snack and a restaurant there if you’re in for food. Being short on time, we hitch hiked (autostop) back to the cars. You can also grab a quick Saj at Arez Ehmej before leaving.
Amazing trail to connect with nature, with outstanding sceneries from the top. However, the trail (especially the first half) is physically challenging for unexperienced hikers.
Pay attention to the LMT side trail signs; they are a bit tricky at some points of the trail. Never follow your map or signs blindly; use your common sense to find your safer way. And most importantly, keep Mother Nature clean! Enjoy hikers!
