Itinerary description
The starting point is the free parking at Glanz (Matrei). The first part os this route is known as "The Edelweisswiese" or "Edelweiss way".
We reach the first hut, Äussere Striker Alm (1914 mt), following a narrow path under pines and with a big slope, althout it is also possible to walk along a wide alpine road for bikes and vehicles. Nice hut with all the typical animals of a farm.
The way to the second hut, the Innere Steiner Alm or Hoanzer Alm (1770 mts), takes another hour from the fisrt one and this time the path is in the open field. Here they grow also their own animals and we take some warm food (home made cheese soupe, 3 fried eggs with bacon and a hot coffee). Delicious.
We continue the way up to the third hut, the Kessleralm (1923 mts). It is about 1,5 hours from the second hut and it is an easy way through the open field.
Now you just need to come back along the same way.
The sightseeings are amazing during the whole excursion. 100% recommendable, but you must ensure to have good weather during the whole day because it is quite a long route.
