Itinerary description

On this trail, we saw a lot of thistle and prickly pear cactus in full bloom. Taking the red blazes up to the yellow blaze loop, there are tortoises and armadillos, and we even saw a fox (though he was too quick and too shy for a photo).

On the final leg of the trail we found what looked like a piece of an old cannon. Obviously, I can't be sure that's what it was but there is a lot of history in this area and we're only a few miles from Fort Christmas, which the Army built back in 1837.
